Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro survived an apparent assassination attempt on Saturday after several drones armed with explosives flew toward him during a speech. Live footage of the event showed the president looking startled, while beside him, his wife winced after a loud bang. A little-known group called the “National Movement of Soldiers in T-shirts” claimed responsibility for the attack that injured seven soldiers. Mr. Maduro won a new six-year term in May, but his main rivals disavowed the election and alleged massive irregularities.
