The US athletic apparel company, Nike has become embroiled in allegations of blasphemy in the Islamic world. A consumer complaint alleges that a logo on the sole of one of the company's shoe brands resembles the Arabic word for "Allah." The person who fist lodged the complaint has said that it is appalling to have the name of God appearing on a shoe. In response, Nike has issued a statement to say that the likeness to the word for Allah is accidental.
