Korea’s Ministry of Employment and Labor has announced its blueprint to include specialized workers and artists in the country’s employment insurance system. Under the plan, specialized workers such as insurance planners, golf caddies, and delivery and proxy drivers will be allowed to receive unemployment benefits. The level of benefits will be 50 percent of one’s average monthly income. Currently, these benefits last from 90 to 240 days. However, a revision that was submitted to the National Assembly in April, would see benefits extended to range from 120 to 270 days.
