A recent report from a global accounting and consulting firm has ranked the public transportation systems of Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi seventh out of 46 cities. Singapore topped the list, followed by Berlin, London, Helsinki, Tokyo and Barcelona. The study measures three main areas, including: performance and resilience, vision and leadership, and service and inclusion. Public transportation fees in the Seoul metropolitan area were lower than other advanced countries, while subway stations were larger and safer. But Korea’s preference for cars and reluctance to embrace shared modes of transportation remain challenges.
