Sales at duty-free shops on Jeju Island have set new records as Chinese tourists flock to the island after last year's THAAD row. Helping to drive the record-setting sales increases is a triple-digit increase in foreign arrivals at the Jeju airport, which are up 140% from last year. Convenience store sales have also gotten in on the action, posting an 8.2% increase in sales. As a result of these increases, Jeju's retail sales index rose 17.4 percent in the second quarter to 127.4.
