President Moon Jae-in has renewed his commitment to end the division of the Korean peninsula. At a ceremony marking Korea's independence from Japanese occupation, Moon said
"true liberation" can only be achieved when the two countries establish a lasting peace and economic community. He said unity was necessary for survival and development as the two Koreas remain technically at war. Potential inter-Korean projects in the pipeline include connecting roads and railways between the two countries and special economic zones near the shared border.
