The wage gap in Korea is intensifying between the top and bottom 10% of income earners. According to the OECD, Korea has the second highest wage inequality in the world. The wage gap between the top 10% of earners and the bottom 10% of earners was 4.3 times. The United States ranked first at 5.07 times. Since the year 2000, Korea's wage inequality has accelerated due to rigid job mobility and the lack of medium-sized enterprises in Korea.
