The texts induce users to click on malicious links that capture financial information. Last year, the number of smishing cases rose 61% to 500,000. This year, there have been about 160,000 cases. During the holiday period, the Ministry of Information and Communication will coordinate with government agencies and telecom firms to monitor and respond to these phishing attempts.
