Typhoon Mangkhut left at least 40 people dead in the Philippines after it struck the northern island of Luzon over the weekend. The super typhoon traveled at up to 270 kilometers-per-hour and ripped off roofs and uprooted trees. It moved to Hong Kong on its way to mainland China on Sunday. The city almost entirely shut down as residents stocked up on essentials and stayed indoors. In Guangzhou, over 100,000 were evacuated while over 550 flights were canceled in the region.
