The European Commission has unveiled a transportation, energy and infrastructure plan with a large focus on Asia. An initial fund of 60 billion euros would insure projects across central Asia and south-eastern Europe. Many see the move as a countermove to China's extensive investment in its new Silk Road project, but the European Commission denies any rivalry with Beijing. Since 2013, China has launched construction projects across more than 60 countries in efforts to create a continuous link from Southeast Asia to Africa.
