More than six years after the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster, the radioactive substance cesium has been detected in fruits and vegetables distributed in Seoul. During the course of a four-year investigation, nearly three percent of cases were found to have up to nine times the allowable amount of cesium. Cesium has similar properties to potassium, which makes it easy to accumulate in muscles. In its natural state, cesium is not radioactive and is taken orally as a cancer treatment.
