Korea's first indigenous geostationary weather satellite, the Chollian-2A, has successfully provided its first image from orbit. 

The Ministry of Science and ICT said the satellite reached geostationary orbit 17 days after launch and provided its first weather-related photos last Saturday. The Chollian-2A will run test operations until July and begin providing full weather information service for the next 10 years. 

The Chollian-2A contains a state-of-the-art meteorological imaging system that is on par with that of other foreign geostationary satellites.

과학기술부는 인공위성이 발사 17일 후 정지궤도에 도달했고 지난 토요일 기상 관련 첫 사진을 제공했다고 말했다. 천리안-2A는 7월까지 시범운영을 하고 향후 10년간 본격적인 기상정보서비스를 제공할 예정이다. 

천리안-2A는 다른 외국 지리 위성들과 동등한 최첨단 기상 영상 시스템을 포함하고 있다.
