Indonesia's National Disaster Center released a video demonstrating the liquefaction of soil following last month's disastrous earthquake in Sulawesi. In the video, the ground floats like clay, swiftly sweeping over the village and swallowing structures such as houses. If soil containing a critical mass of groundwater is disturbed by a strong earthquake, the ground will flow like mud and create devastating effects. With some estimates saying about 1,000 people were buried by the mud, areas may be designated as mass grave sites.
